Tool Running Slow or Cutting Out Mid-Job?
A WorCraft 20V tool that runs sluggishly or shuts off unexpectedly is almost always protecting itself — or signaling a fixable issue. Work through these checks before assuming the tool needs service.
Check 1: Battery Charge Level
The most common cause of slow performance is a low battery. Check the charge indicator on your pack. If it's at one bar or flashing, swap to a charged pack. Running a battery to zero repeatedly shortens its lifespan — rotate two packs to avoid this.
Check 2: Battery Pack Match
Running a high-draw tool on an undersized pack causes voltage sag — the tool gets enough power to run but not enough to perform at full speed under load. If you're running an angle grinder or paddle mixer on a 2.0Ah pack, upgrade to a 4.0Ah or 6.0Ah and retest.
Check 3: Thermal Overload Protection
WorCraft brushless tools have built-in thermal protection. If the motor or battery overheats under sustained heavy load, the tool will reduce power or shut off to prevent damage. This is normal protective behavior — not a fault.
- Remove the battery and let both the tool and pack cool for 15–20 minutes.
- Check that the tool's vents are clear of dust and debris — blocked vents accelerate overheating.
- Resume use at a lower duty cycle, or rotate to a second tool while the first cools.
Check 4: Disc, Blade, or Bit Condition
A dull or damaged cutting accessory forces the motor to work harder, causing slowdown and heat buildup. Inspect your disc, blade, or bit and replace if worn. A sharp accessory is faster, safer, and easier on your battery.
Check 5: Contact and Connection Issues
Dust and debris on battery contacts can cause intermittent power loss. Remove the battery, wipe the contacts on both the pack and tool with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and retest.
Check 6: Electronic Brake or Lock-Out
Some WorCraft tools have an electronic brake that engages when the trigger is released — this is normal. If the tool won't start at all, check that the safety lock-off button (if equipped) is disengaged before pressing the trigger.
